Photo Friday: Taos Pueblo
|Share the joy
Taos Pueblo was one of the main sites I wanted to see during our road trip to Dallas. My family went there when I was a kid years ago, but I didn’t remember much about it other than I really liked it.
I’m glad I was able to go back when I can actually appreciate the history of it. Taos Pueblo dates back over 1000 years and it’s still a living working pueblo. So many people have fought to keep their land and heritage. This shot is of the pueblo cemetery and the ruins are what remains of the original church that was destroyed during the Spanish Revolt in the 1600s.
Have you heard of Taos Pueblo?

I’ve never heard of this!
Becky it’s a lesser known place but full of history.
Awesome shot! What a crazy looking place, too. There is so much to see in the photo, I found myself scrolling down to comment and then scrolling back up to take another peek. I had never heard of Taos Pubelo before.

Thanks Angela! Taos Pueblo is really awesome! Thanks for stopping by!
I would like to visit this place. A friend of mine used to live in there (in the area) and says it is magical.
You definitely should! It is magical!
I’ve never heard of Taos Pueblo. It must be a very interesting place to visit, but this cemetery looks kind of sad. Not that a cemetery should be a joyful place, but this one gives me a feeling of abandonment and that’s what’t making it look sad.
Taos Pueblo is very interesting. What’s great is the people of the pueblo never abandoned it. They have protected their land all these years and survived!
Great to see an ancient structure still standing and recognized for its homage of the past. I always appreciate seeing architecture like this to remind me to have respect for history.
I totally agree! Respect is the main thing that people of Taos Pueblo talked about.
I’ve heard of the Taos Pueblo but never visited. There’s so much unique history in New Mexico.
There really is!
What a great shot. I love old cemeteries, I know, crazy, right? So many stories, and so much atmosphere.
I’m with you! Soon much history!
I lived in Albuquerque for a couple of years and never made it up to Taos. That’s a shame, especially since it’s a UNESCO site. World heritage sites are always so interesting.

They are so interesting!
This is really cool and interesting. We did a little reading on Pueblo life this past year in our school.
Oh nice! That must have been interesting!
