While I was traveling north to Chiang Mai, I stopped in Ayutthaya to explore for the day.
Ayutthaya was founded in the 13th century and became the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom. The city became a hub for global diplomacy during it’s heyday before being destroyed by the Burmese in the 18th century. Now Ayutthaya is a historic landmark.
After seeing just a few photos of the stunning architectural ruins in Ayutthaya, I knew I had to go there and learn about the city’s rich history. Even though most of the city is burnt, you can still sense how grand it once was! It must have been incredible in it’s day.
What am I saying? It’s incredible seeing it today!
I couldn’t narrow it down to my favorite buddha picture from the ruins, so I compiled all 4 for this Photo Friday.
