Chiang Mai sunset
The sunset from the plane leaving Chiang Mai

I’ve been home now just over 2 weeks.

The adjustment period is kind of hard since I don’t have an actual house to settle into. Thankfully I have awesome friends who are happy to open up their homes and extra bedrooms to me until I figure out what I am doing.

These last couple of weeks have given me a lot of time to figure out what I hope to accomplish in 2016.

Goal #1 Pump up the Blog

Attending TBEX last year taught me how I can take my blog to the next level. I’ve already begun to receive offers from smaller companies, and I’ve been putting out a lot of guest posts to spread the word even more!

Even though things are going well, I think they can be a whole lot better. It will take more time, but I’ve already seen big differences in numbers with a a few slight changes. I’m excited to see what my numbers will be like at the end of this year!

Goal #2 Start up the Podcast

This has been an ongoing project for the last few months now. I have already recorded some of my own episodes as well as interviewed a few of my traveler friends.

Now I just have to figure out how to edit all of it. It has been many years since I took a sound design class, and the programs are completely different than what I originally learned on.

Thank goodness for YouTube and all the teenagers that record themselves preforming seemingly simple tasks for all the non-techy kind of people like myself. Hopefully I will get things going and have a final product in a few months.

Goal #3 Find a New Form of Income

Alan has been testing different forms of passive income for the longest time. He got me interested in it as well, and I have been looking more into it.

In Chiang Mai, I met so many people from all over the world who were making a living with online and passive income. I realized how doable it is. I just have to figure out what direction I want to take.

Then hopefully I won’t have to keep coming back to LA for work!

This car museum was located in one of the truck stops we pulled of at. Pretty cool!

Goal #4 Explore More of My Home Country

My parents were awesome when it came to family vacations. They didn’t really do the big cities. We always went to a smaller town somewhere surrounded by beautiful nature.

I have seen a good portion of the US because of them. I’ve also kept traveling around on my own here and there, but I realize how much more of the US there is for me to see.

There are still hundreds of national and state parks that I have not seen as well as big cities yet to visit.

This year I definitely want to take some time and see more of the US.

Goal #5 Plan New Volunteer Opportunities

There are plenty of volunteer programs in the US that I would love to do, and I’m not staying stateside the whole year.

This is my first time having been abroad for a lengthy amount of time, so I’m not sure how my work situation will pan out. So far it is going really good, but in the freelance world things can change at the drop of a hat.

I’m hoping it won’t take longer than 4 months, but only time will tell.

At least this will give me the time to look up more programs and try to come up with some sort of travel/volunteering plan.

Goal #6 Become A More Responsible Traveler

No matter how responsible I thought I was being there were still times that I slipped up.

I ended up participating in 2 activities that I now wish I would have skipped, so this coming year I want to be even more aware and ask more questions.

I also noticed just how wasteful I can really be.

I think after seeing all the trash in the water and along the beaches in Borneo I have become much more aware of my own personal waste.

In 2016 I want to cut down on my waste even more. I doubt I can go 100% waste free in 1 year, but that is the ultimate goal.

2015 opened my eyes to a whole new world. There are so many opportunities out there that can make a huge difference in your life. I’m excited to see what 2016 will bring!
